Definition:
Define “Journalism” in 1-3 sentences.
It is the telling of current events that are newswothy via newspapers, magazines, television, radio, and Internet.
List and describe the six criteria of newsworthiness.

1 Timeliness- we care about things that are happening now; ex. healthcare bill, weather, natural disasters,sports scores.
2. Significance- the more people that are impacted the more it matters; ex. 9/11, hurricane Katrina, and the superbowl.
3. Unusualness- things that don't happen often; ex. man bites dog, octomom.
4. Prominence- we care about famous people; ex. obama gets a dog.
5. Proximatey- things that are close to us; ex. weather, traffic.
6. Human Interest Stories- stories that show us something positive; ex. animals being helped.

What are the advantages of broadcast journalism?
1. Video is much more engaging for the audience.
2. The ability to be live and updated.
3. Broadcast journalism is much more accesible.
Why has online journalism (convergent media) become so popular?
It is becoming so popular because technology is growing. Convergent media is always being updated. You can access it when ever you want to. You can carry all of the news on your phone where ever you go.
